2014 Iowa Off-Highway Vehicle Park Development Workshop
The National-Off Highway Vehicle Conservation Council (NOHVCC) will conduct an OHV Park Development Workshop on May 1617, 2014. The 2-day workshop will consist of morning classroom sessions at the Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge, Iowa, and afternoon field sessions at the Gypsum City OHV Park in Fort Dodge.

The workshop will include sessions on planning, design, construction, operation, and maintenance of fun and sustainable OHV parks. Friday focuses on topics of interest to state, county and city government leaders, planners, land managers, and recreation managers. Saturday focuses on how enthusiast organizations and individuals can partner with government agencies to improve and expand OHV park recreation opportunities. Government personnel and OHV enthusiasts are invited to attend both days.
Classroom sessions will include:
*       Applying the 4Es to meet OHV needs and desires
*       OHV park planning
*       Trail system planning and design
*       Trail system maintenance and operation
*       Maximizing partnerships to leverage limited resources
*       Gypsum City OHV Park challenges and successes
*       How what has been learned at Gypsum City can be applied to other parks
*       Innovative programs such as Polaris Rider X
Field sessions will include:
*       Trail design, layout, construction and maintenance demonstrations
*       Trail maintenance techniques and equipment demonstrations
*       How to successfully maintain and expand an existing OHV park
*       Creative trail design and layout exercises
*       When trail relocation is preferable to unaffordable maintenance
*       Trail design considerations for ATV, ROV, and OHM vehicles
